My favorite event of the year is here! It's the Japanese Film Festival 2009.

Too bad this year's topic is horror, mystery and supernatural. And that might turn some people off. However, upon closer inspection of the synopsis, most of the films are actually quite unique and interesting and some, omoshiroiiiiiii.

The films are divided into paid and free categories.

As part of my ASR (Atomu's social responsibility), I'm attempting to organize an outing to the screening on Aug 27th Sat: Manji

It's a film directed by the DIRECTOR-IN-FOCUS this year.

It's a free film. But its R21. So there will be no urusai kodomos. Please read the link below for synopsis.

Usually there will be a looooooong queue for the free films (==kiasu Singaporeans). Hence, being a Singaporean, I will go early and be the first in the queue, to get the tickets for you. Please let me know if any of you will be interested in the film?

Of course, there are numerous other films, you can buy the tickets and catch yourself!

Natsu matsuri (夏祭り) 2009 is here again.

Experience the joy on being in Singapore to experience Natsu matsuri.
It would be held at the Japanese primary school located in Changi.

I managed to secure a few tickets. I think you can buy the ticket when you are over there...

Tickets are $2 per ticket.

If you are going, let's all meet at Bedok MRT and go together.

You can wear your Yukata, but no Cosplay please.

Dear members,

The last conversation practice was great. We had a lot of fun and learning new vocabulary. This time we are going to have open topics (anything you would like to ask)

This meeting is only for members who are taking JLPT 3 and 4

Please remember to answer the questions. Thank you!

The thing here is to be able to practice.

I am limiting this to only 6 persons to facilitate more chances to speak. Another thing i hope to achieve is to correct wrong intonation and accents of Japanese used.

It's a bit different from what Keh Han has conducted in a sense, only seniors (like myself) and a native Japanese would be there to correct you.

If you find it hard to fit in, please email me via the link here (http://japanese.meetup.com/7/members/3415574)
with your contact number and MSN, and i can give you more details about this meetup.

Best Regards,
Tsubasa

I'm organising our meetup in Geylang this time.
This place is "secluded" at the end of Geylang road.
It's a coffeeshop that offers H.K. street food and they
are famous (probably the one and only) for their
fermented beancurd aka smelly toufu aka 臭豆腐.
Smelly as in how some folks think of durian and natto..
And such foods are healthy, right.
There are those, like me, who request for more potent ones
If you have never tried, come join us.
1st timers can start with the mildest degree kind.
after that, you likely beg for more.
And it's fun if everyone smells together.

nijikai will be beertime, or another beancurd dessert called 豆花
or something smelly also famous in geylang ~ durians。
