Introduction

HAJIMEMASITE! I'm Colleen... Mexican by nationality, American by citizenship and at least part Japanese at heart. (^_^) I moved to Houston (for the 1st time) less than a year ago after spending 4 years in southern Japan. YOROSHIKU ONEGAI SIMASU<3

what is your favorite Japanese word(s)?

I like "chikuwa" (a fish cake with a bamboo hole in it) and "wakuchin" (vaccine) and "chyusyajou" (parking lot) Don't ask me why!!! I love to eat chikuwa and I still have a hard time pronouncing chyusyajou-- so I just call it kuruma wo tomaru toko!

what brought you to Houston?

A 4tty job (4 is "shi") I strongly dislike my job--- but I really do fancy H-town! So, I guess it was a good thing. (^_^)

What made you interested in learning Japanese?

Actually, the first time I learned any Japanese I was 8 years old, I had just come to the US and I was just trying to make friends and play with other ESL students-- and English was just not working for me. lol (I think my first word was "asobu")

This new meetup welcomes people who are fluent or near-fluent in Japanese as well as those who are just learning or have an interest in learning. The best way to learn a language is by practicing it. If you don't use it--- you loose it! This forum gives you a chance to make friends and exchange language/culture at the same time. Besides, who doesn't like good food?
