Marko has volunteered to host an event! There is a free Japanese movie showing at the Salt Lake City Public Library, in the Main Library auditorium. It is called "Dare mo shiranai" (Nobody Knows) and it is in Japanese with English subtitles. Marko would like to meet at 2:45pm in the theater lobby (film starts at 3:00pm).

Afterwards he'd like to meetup up at the Salt Lake Roasting Company (320 E 400 S) for snacks and chat. The Roasting Company offers soup and sandwiches as well.

Here is the description of the movie from the Library's website:
"This film is based on true events and features a performance by 12-year-old Yagira Yuya that won the Best Actor prize at the 2004 Cannes International Film Festival. A childlike mother of four sneaks her children into a new apartment. One of the rules is that only Akira, the eldest, can go outside. The mother leaves, first for a month, and then possibly forever. As the money runs out and the utilities are shut off, Akira struggles to take care of his brother and sisters, determined that they stay safe and together. Japanese with English subtitles."

    •  The movie was very enlightening to the Japanese culture. I study the culture more than the language but the movie also helped in language study. This movie was part of a celebration of our sister city Matsumoto.
