Do you want to meet people who have fascinating backgrounds and speak with them in Japanese? Then this is your group! Houston Japanese MeetUp is highly focused on creating a fun environment for actually hearing and speaking Japanese (advanced-beginner through advanced and native levels).
Japanese is a difficult language to learn and also a difficult language to retain in the USA. To retain the language, you need to use it and continue to learn. That is what Houston Japanese MeetUp is mainly for - a chance to speak Japanese and learn more about Japanese in a fun environment. Houston Japanese MeetUp also acts as a gateway for members to the wider Japanese-speaking community of Houston, so some of our events are held jointly with the Japanese Association of Greater Houston, Japan Business Association of Houston, etc.
This group is also by far the best opportunity in Houston for native speakers of Japanese to share the Japanese language with non-Japanese who are actually learning and speaking Japanese, rather than sitting around a table talking in English about someday learning Japanese.
A Japanese Karaoke Party will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 6:30 pm. We will meet at Sushi Jin (14670 Memorial Dr., at the corner with Dairy Ashford, [masked]) at 6:30 pm. As always an RSVP is required via the Japanese MeetUp site.
This party has a theme - Enka and Oldies. This means that participants are asked to sing at least half the time songs that are Enka or at least rather old songs. What is "old"? Read more
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
